Synopsis
Werewolf in trouble…

Biffy, newly minted Alpha of the London Pack, is not having a good Christmas. His Beta abandoned him, his werewolves object to his curtain choices, and someone keeps leaving babies on his doorstep.

Professor Randolph Lyall returns home to London after twenty years abroad, afraid of what he might find. With his pack in chaos and his Alpha in crisis, it will take all his Beta efficiency to set everything to rights. Perhaps, in the process, he may even determine how to mend his own heart.

New York Times bestselling author Gail Carriger presents a charming love story set in her popular steampunk Parasolverse. Featuring the long-awaited reunion between everyone’s favorite quietly capable Beta and the werewolf Alpha dandy who let him slip away.

This sweet romance is full of unexpected babysitting, holiday decorations, and no small amount of pining. Look for surprise appearances from popular side characters and the occasional strategic application of italics.

The Supernatural Society novellas stand alone and may be read in any order. But if you’re a stickler, this story chronologically follows Imprudence, and ties specifically to events in Timeless.

Delicate Sensibilities?

Contains men who love other men and have waited decades to do so.

Read-along
Midway through 2018, I decided that I wanted to read the books from Gail Carriger’s Parasolverse in chronological order. This led me to start the journey of the Parasolverse Read-Along in August 2018. If you would like more information about the read-along please visit my post about it here. At the beginning of each month, I will have a brief read-along post go up letting you know what the book for that month is.

What I thought
To date as of writing this review I have read all of the books that take place in this universe that are currently out. Yes I know I cheated and jumped ahead. I liked this novella but did not love it. The tone of this one just seemed off to me or maybe I just hyped this one up too much in my head.

Upon reflecting some more (3 days) it might have to do with this being only male perspectives. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I love Gail’s female characters and I love the back and forth banter you get.

Other than the above comment / reflection I liked the story. I liked how she introduced US vs UK werewolf culture. It was a great setup for another novella, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on that one. I also loved seeing how the pack evolved after Lord Macon.

So long story short. The story gave me closure regarding the pack transition. I did like, but I think because who it was about I hyped it up too much to myself. Which is my own fault not the books. I see myself reading this book again.
