What I thought
Elise Kova sure knows how to end a series!  This was the final book in the Air Awakens Series and let me tell you this was a ride.

I am very happy to say that I am not disappointed in the ending of this series as a whole.  I have not had great luck with the endings of some series this year, but this one I can happily walk away from.

This book was not afraid to go dark.

I feel that this book was longer than it needed to be there was a lot of traveling and/or just passing the time it seemed. Don’t get me wrong it was not bad it just dragged along in some places.

I need some answers! Who was Vi really? I had this idea at one point that she was really Aldricks mom…the fire gave me that idea.  And then we have Daniel…oh Daniel what happened to you? Part of me does not want an answer to this and another part demands happiness lol.

If you have not picked up Air Awakens yet you really should.  If you would like to see my reviews for the other books in this series please click any of the below.

Synopsis
Librarian turned sorcerer. Sorcerer turned hero. Hero turned puppet.

The Solaris Empire found victory in the North and, at the cost of her heart and her innocence, Vhalla Yarl has earned her freedom. But the true fight is only beginning as the secret forces that have been lurking in the shadows, tugging at the strings of Vhalla’s fate, finally come to light. Nowhere is safe, and Vhalla must tread carefully or else she’ll fall into the waiting arms of her greatest foe. Or former lover.

What I thought
Since this is book four in the series, this will be short and sweet.

There was a lot going on in this book you can tell we are nearing the end of the series. I felt that this book’s main purpose was to move people to where they need to be for the final book.  I also found my love for Jax in this book there is just something about him that I adore.

I am still wanting that happy ending for Daniel but I am starting to worry that its not going to happen. Yes, I will hold onto this until the end 🙂

If you have not picked up this series, you should really consider doing so if you like young adult fantasy and romance.  Especially if you like strong female characters who take control of their own destiny.

Synopsis
A coastal summer is turned upside down by a violent murder, and a quest for lost pirate treasure turns into a hunt for the killer.

Jax Wendyll is the crown’s dog. As punishment for the unspeakable crimes that torment him to this day, his life has been conscripted to the Empire Solaris. However, in an Empire afflicted by peace, his duties are relegated to unquestioningly aiding the antics of the youngest prince, Baldair.

Erion Le’Dan, a nobleman’s son, expects a quiet summer visit to the Imperial Palace, his only agenda to visit with his unlikely friends. But Jax’s discovery the legendary pirate Adela Lagmir’s old workroom inspires a hunt for her long lost treasure.

The pursuit of Adela’s truth takes the three men to the Imperial summer manor, built along the old pirate mainstays. When Adela’s trident is branded into a murdered servant, Prince Baldair’s summer amusement of treasure-hunting becomes a hunt to find the killer. But, as mysteries compound, the ghosts of Jax’s past may not be the only things haunting them.

What I thought
I was kindly given a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Let me start by saying thank you to the author for sending me a copy of this book for an honest review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the first book in the Golden Guard Trilogy, which is a prequel to the Air Awakens Series.  The Crown’s Dog is about Jax and I was here for it. I found my love or Jax in Water’s Wrath and this story just solidified my soft spot for him.

This story begins three years after Jax becomes conscripted by the crown. This story tells you how he became part of the Golden Guard and you see how much the events that lead to his really affect him.  In the Crystal Crowned, a good bit of years has passed and he has been able to build up a shell so it seems almost cold when you hear it then but in this book, you get more raw emotion and you see things from his perspective.

This book is full of little details that explain some things in the Air Awakens books more than once I was like “ahh now that makes more sense”.  Don’t get me wrong they is nothing missing from the Air Awakens book these little tibbits are like little easter eggs.

As a bonus in this story, you get to see the creation of the Golden Guard.

Even though the books in this trilogy are prequels I would read them after the Air Awakens series.  They could spoil some things for you that happens in the last two books (Water’s Wrath and Crystal Crowned).

I can not wait to get my hands on the next book in this trilogy!

Synopsis
A woman awoken in air, a soldier forged by fire, a weapon risen from blood.

Vhalla Yarl has made it to the warfront in the North. Forged by blood and fire, she has steeled her heart for the final battle of the Solaris Empire’s conquest. The choices before Vhalla are no longer servitude or freedom, they are servitude or death. The stakes have never been higher as the Emperor maintains his iron grip on her fate, holding everything Vhalla still has left to lose in the balance.

What I thought
This is the third book in the Air Awakens series. This will be a short review due to not wanting to spoil anything, but guys this book was one wild ride.  Only two days passed since the end of the second book. So there is no space of time you miss.  This book was full of action from beginning to end. Vahalla is no longer the girl from the library. She has transformed into a fierce woman and everyone better get out of her way. She is full of passion no matter what she is doing. There is no going halfway with her.

There has always been something that I just don’t like about Aldrik and yep still not fully behind him.  This book gave me so much more respect for Baldair. Sorry, I can’t tell you why it would spoil too much.  Then we have Daniel, my heart just bleeds for him and I really want him to have a happy ending.

I really need to pick up the next book so I can have some questions answered.

If you enjoy books with kick-ass female characters then you really need to pick up book 1 Air Awakens.

Synopsis
Soldier… Sorcerer… Savior… Who is Vhalla Yarl?

Vhalla Yarl marches to war as property of the Solaris Empire. The Emperor counts on her to bring victory, the Senate counts on her death, and the only thing Vhalla can count on is the fight of her life. As she grapples with the ghosts of her past, new challenges in the present threaten to shatter the remnants of her fragile sanity. Will she maintain her humanity? Or will she truly become the Empire’s monster?

What I thought
This is the second book in the Air Awakens series. This book begins just 5 days after the trial in the first book. I really like how the author handles the emotional trauma is from the first book, it is not glossed over like nothing ever happened. I love how Vhalla comes out so much stronger in the end. As a whole, this book was an emotional rollercoaster ride with an angst level of 10. I spent the majority of the book in this state.

No character is safe the author has no issues toying/destroying them all in one way or another.  As much as it wrecks me I have to say I love the way she does it.

I can’t wait to pick up the next book in this series and I promised myself that I would get to read it in February. I waited way too many months between the first and the second one and I just can not do that to myself after that ending.

I know that this is a very vague review, but that is because I want to say so many things that I have thoughts on and they are all spoilers and I think that you just need to pick this up yourself without knowing how this begins coming together.

If you enjoy angst, having your emotions toyed with. or your heart ripped out you should read this series.
