Synopsis
For Savenek, there is no greater honor than protecting Emperion. While other young men his age study a trade, he attends a secret, elite military academy where he has been honed into a lethal asset for his kingdom. He can gather information without detection and kill from the shadows. Savenek’s own father is the schoolmaster, and he forces Savenek to train harder than any other student. As graduation draws near, Savenek eagerly awaits the vows inducting him into the Brotherhood of the Crown.

When a messenger arrives with news of war brewing on the horizon, the Brotherhood is called into action. Eager to prove himself, Savenek goes on his first mission alone. He doesn’t expect to uncover a treacherous plot to destroy Emperion. He doesn’t expect to join forces with someone outside the Brotherhood, let alone a woman. He certainly doesn’t expect to fail.

But then again, his father taught him nothing ever goes as planned.

Political intrigue clashes with romance in this thrilling story that continues the Reign of Secrets saga.

What I thought

I was very hesitant going into this book. I really liked how book 3 ended and a big part of me wanted to leave the story there.  I continued on because this author has not steered me wrong yet.

So this is Savenek’s story during the same time as the first three books.  Which brings me to believe that the final book is going to feature both siblings.  I have to say that I enjoyed this book very much you get to see how the twins are similar even though they were raised apart.  I learned things that either I missed in the first three books or I was just being told them.  I am pretty sure that these things were not in the first 3 however I can not be 100% certain that they were not mentioned in passing.

I foresee a potential love story for the final book and I am really hoping that it comes to be and both siblings can live happily ever after. They have both lived through so much I feel that they deserve it.

If you have read the first 3 books and are hesitant like I was I implore you to continue on. It is very much worth it.

The final installment in the Knights of the Realm saga is here.

With Prince Henrick dead, a foreign army in league with the king, and the palace taken, Reid must find a way to right the wrongs for the people of Marsden.

Reid never expected to find love, friendship, or her mother in the kingdom of Axian. She also never expected to become a leader for her people. With the king threatening to overthrow the dukes and take complete control of the kingdom, Reid realizes she may be the only one in a position to stop him. With the ring her father gave her, the commanders of the army at her side, and a master schemer in league with her, Reid just might be able to pull off the greatest upset in Marsden history—all she has to do in step into the role she was born for.

To protect her kingdom, Reid must outsmart them all. Luckily, she’s spent the last eighteen year learning the art of manipulation, and she isn’t above putting those skills to the test.

Synopsis
Destined from birth to be the next empress of Emperion, Allyssa grew up at court weighed down by the expectations of the crown. Kingdom and duty always came first.

Until now.

Having survived the brutal kingdom of Russek, she is given the choice to walk away and live a peaceful, quiet life. But it also means giving up everything she knows and everyone she loves. Before she decides, word reaches her about an assassination attempt. Donning her secret persona—that of a vigilante—she sets out to eliminate her enemy once and for all.

As Allyssa fights the demons of her past to save her future, she realizes she never had a choice. She can either embrace her destiny or be caged by it.

What I thought
Somebody tell me how there is more books after this?!?!?!

No really don’t because I can not wait to pick up the next one.

Once I started this book I did not want to put it down. Sometimes being an adult is hard lol.

So I loved how this book started out stating that this may or may not be the end of Allyssa’s story.  Since this series is now complete, I know for a fact there are 2 more books, but I don’t know if the main characters change or if its a continuation.  I have so many questions. I am going to make a guess that this is the end of Allyssa’s arc and we may be finally getting to see her brother maybe. I haven’t even read the synopsis for the last two books. Once a series starts I like to go in blind unless they are companions and the characters change with each book.

One thing I can say for sure is that if the story was to stop here I would be satisfied. Which leads me to say that I am scared to death to pick up the last two.  I really like how this ends here and the characters have been through enough they deserve this ending. So here is to hoping we mix up the main characters just a bit.

If you enjoy Young Adult Fantasy that isn’t afraid to get a little dark then you should try this series out. I have loved the journey through these first 3 books so much.

Synopsis
While traveling to Fren, Allyssa and Odar are hijacked by a ruthless assassin who divulges a stunning secret that changes everything.

Trying to come to terms with this newfound revelation, Allyssa is taken to Russek and delivered into the hands of a malicious and twisted royal family. She finds herself an unwilling pawn in a risky political game that will either end with her death or the annihilation of her beloved kingdom. Unsure of where the lies end and the truth begins, she must survive the brutal family and escape the fortified castle, all the while coming to grips with her feelings for Odar.

In a kingdom filled with darkness, Allyssa enters a game where one wrong move means death, secrets hide around each corner, and it will take every ounce of cunning she has to survive.

What I thought
This is the second book in the Reign of Secrets series.  I have read other books by this author and I love her writing style.  You get so much and there is not the useless “fluff” that is present in some YA Fantasy books.  I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this book.  I do feel slightly justified for not liking Odar, he really shows his true colors in this book. I know some people felt that he didn’t feel like the character in book 1. I see that but come on he lied about who he was through the whole of book one, so I take who he was then with a grain of salt.

Allyssa is an amazing character! The events that she goes through in this book I know I could not have come out on the other side as well as she did.  The worse things seemed to get the more she refused to be weak and I admire that in her.  There are parts of this story that are dark, really dark, but this is where the writing style really mattered for me because in most cases I would have DNF’d the book but I was so engrossed in the story I couldn’t stop.

There were are few reveals that happen in the book one I saw coming due to clues being dropped in book 1. But what happened, in the end, I mean the very end of the book I should have seen coming but I didn’t.  I really can’t wait to see what decision is made regarding it but I foresee how it is going to go.

I can not wait to read book 3 I have only waited due to needing to write this review (and I got very behind on them) because I wanted this to be my thoughts not knowing what was coming up.

I hope Allyssa ends up being a phoenix that rises from the ashes.

Review

I was so happy to be on this tour. I really like the other books that I have read by this author in the past. Oh My God Guys I could not put this book down.  I read it in a day and a half. I really enjoyed how this book did not focus around romance.  There is a love interest however it is not necessary to the story.

In this first book, you follow Reid on her journey of self-discovery and it was amazing. Reid who was raised to act like a Lord growing up finds herself at Court having to act like a Lady. Since Reid was raised like a boy she was taught how to fight. In this kingdom, women are not allowed to fight or join the army, which makes Reid’s ability rare. This has also put her in a position to be used by the King and the princes.

This was a wonderful first book to a series and I can not wait for the next book to come out!
