I Dare You Book Tag!

I was tagged by the amazing Brittney @ Perfectly Tolerable and the wonderful Whitney @ Whit Reads Lit.

Brittney tried to find the creator of this tag, but couldn’t.

1. What Book has been on your shelves the longest?

My current shelves…The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you will read next?

Last Read

Current Read

What I might read next

The Kingdom of Back

3. What book did everyone like, but you hated?

Outlander.  I have no love for this book.

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

The Romanovs: 1613-1918 by Simon Sebag Montefiore

I really do want to read it but it’s a huge history book and I am a mood reader.

5. Which book are you saving for retirement?

6. Last page: Do you read it first or wait to the end?

Always wait until the end.

7. Acknowledgments: Are they a waste of paper and ink or interesting?

They are interesting.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

None of them.  Either I would be in a fantasy world or in Regency/Victorian London.  I like my modern conveniences a little too much for that.

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life?

Harry Potter.  I put off starting these books for so long. The first 4 were out before I finally picked up the first one.  I refused to read them because they were so popular, typical teenager I know. What made me pick them up was they started to be banned so I wanted to know what all of the fuss was about.

10. Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.

Brittney @ Perfectly Tolerable got me a signed copy of The Omega Objection by G. L. Carriger (Gail Carriger) while she was at the Denver Comic Con.  Gail is my favorite author so this meant a lot to me.

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

This may sound silly but its the first thing I thought about.

A while back I had a co-worker that had a house fire.  Most of her things were saveable but had to be professionally cleaned. If memory serves me the fire was a shortage in the kitchen and the response time was wonderful and most things were just water damaged.  Due to insurances paying well they were not accepting any help at this time.  A short time before this she let me borrow her favorite book, which I had already given back.  This book had been out of print for more than a decade or two so I went on a search for it so she would have something for comfort.

The book was The Nonsuch lure by Mary Luke.  If you ever come across it you should pick it up.

12. Which book has been with you the most places?

I am going to have to say The Wrong Number by R.L Stine.  I still have my very battered copy that I read way back when.  This is also the book that sparked my love of reading.

13. Any ‘required reading’ you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

Nope, the book that I hated then I still feel the same way.  Of Mice and Men.

14. Used or brand new?

Either is fine as long as it’s in good condition.

15. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?

Yes.  Angels & Demons I do not know why I never continued the series.

16. Have you ever seen a movie that you liked more than the book?

Don’t come after me…The Lord of the Rings Movies

17. A book that’s made you hungry?

I can’t think of any that does.  I don’t snack while I am reading.

18. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

My friends Tina and Kelly

19. Most read authors?

RL Stine (that I can remember) @ 55

Gail Carriger @ 20

Charlaine Harris @ 17

J.K. Rowling @ 15

20. Ship from two different books?

I have no idea why these two came to mind.  Audrey Rose from Stalking Jack the Ripper and Nikolai Lantsov from the Grisha Books.

Book Lover Blog Tag

Book Lovers Tag

I want to thank Newblogger20 for tagging me.  I fell so far behind and did not realize how much until I started this tag.  I was Tagged in June 2019.  Sorry, it has taken me so long to get it together.  If you have not checked out Newblogger20 you should head on over there. If you want to see how they answered these questions you can go here.

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Include the Book-Lover Blog Tag graphic and rules in your post.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Nominate at least 5 new bloggers to do the tag.

What is your favorite thing about reading?

My favorite thing about reading is that it allows me to escape this world for another.  This allows me to relax and better deal with stress in my day to day life.

Which male character is your favorite?

I have to say I really like Thomas Cresswell from the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco.

Which female character is your favorite?

This one was much easier to come up with. Alexia Tarabotti from the Parasol Protectorate Series by Gail Carriger. The first book is Soulless and I highly recommend it.

Who is your favorite villain of all time?

Bellatrix Lestrange.  She did not become my favorite until I saw Helena Bonham Carter play her.

Who is your least favorite character of all time?

Sorry for the multiple Harry Potter references but I have to pick Dolores Unbrige.

Which book do you think has the strongest plot?

I am not a plot-driven person so I don’t know.

What gets on your nerves the most in a story (a boring character, an unrealistic plot, etc.)?

When the characters begin acting unrealistic or their personalities just completely change.

Which book has the best cover (share a picture!)?

Okay, so I had to pick three. Trust me it was hard to just stick to three.

Suitors and Sabotage by Cindy Anstey

The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss

Unnatural Magic by C.M. Waggoner

Do you let people borrow your books? If so, are you specific about how they treat them?

I only loan them to people that I trust.  LOL, I can only think of three people that I have loaned books out to in the past few years.

If a movie could be made based on any book, which book would you choose?

The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss

I would love to see this happen!

Which author has inspired you most?

So I can take this two different ways. 1) motivation/self-help type of books (non-fiction) or 2) an author that has inspired me to tell my own story (fiction).

  1. Rachel Hollis
  2. Gail Carriger

What single book would you be unable to live without?

Do I really have to pick only one…Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

The Holiday Drinks Book Tag

Good Morning All,

Today we are doing The Holiday Drinks Book Tag.  I was tagged by the wonderful Consu @ The Paper Eyed Girl. If you have not checked her out I really urge you to do so.

1. Hot Chocolate: Marshmallows and chocolate and whipped cream, oh my! Recommend a book that’s sweet through and through.

A Holiday by Gaslight

I really loved this book.

2. Peppermint Mocha: The flavor of peppermint is strong and distinct. Recommend a book with a lot of strong emotions.

Eye of the World

3. Apple Cider: It’s so good it can’t be good for you, but it’s from apples—that means it’s healthy, right? Recommend a book full of characters with questionable morals.

And I Darken

4. Eggnog: It’s creamy and smooth, with a little spice, and some people even add alcohol to it. Recommend a book that’s mostly fun, with just a hint of danger.

The strange case of the Alchemists daughter

5. Gingerbread Latte: A drink with a veritable explosion of spices. Recommend a book with a lot of action.

The Final Empire UK

So I may have stretched a little on some of these. But I am sticking to them!
